External display through HP Elite USB-C Dock

I have an HP tablet for work so use an HP Elite USB-C dock on my desk there and at home to connect to my external monitors. Plugging it in to the USB C port on my new Air it recognized the LAN and USB connections, but I can't get my screen to output to my external monitor. The monitor is connected through a DP on the dock to a mini DP on the monitor. Do I need to do something my my mac to output to that screen?
