I'm running on a uMBP 10.6.2 with two FW800 external drives. The first is my Time Machine drive (#1), and the second is extra storage (#2), which is daisy-chained through #1.

For some reason, any applications that access files on #2 are forgetting or losing their connections. For instance, every time I restart my laptop, Time Machine forgets any files that I have "excluded" located on #2. When I click the plus sign (under Time Machine Preferences > Options) to exclude files, Time Machine remembers #2's name, but shows the name at the top with a small red minus sign symbol on it. When I select the drive from the left side under "devices", it recognizes it, and I can re-add the files I want to exclude with no problems.

Other applications are doing the exact same thing. Does anyone have experience with this? Any help is much appreciated.
