I have a 2013 Imac with the 256 Gb SSD and two external hard-drives in enclosures connected via USB. The external enclosures have lights that illuminate when the drives are powered on and the Imac is on (USB is active). However, when the Imac is sleeping, the lights on the enclosures will stay on for about 10 seconds, turn off for 2-3 seconds, then back on for 10 seconds and so on.
I've disabled 'Wake for network access' and 'Put hard disks to sleep when possible'.
I'm worried that this issue will cause wear on my external drives because of the cycling. Any suggestions on how to prevent this issue?
