External drive Disk Utility repair taking forever

How can I tell if its lagging or it is just taking a long time? No CPU in Activity Monitor. Will it hurt to quit at the Checking Mulit=Linked directories stage? its approx 2T out of 4T, my passport by WD.

Just wondering... is the external 4tb drive the only location on which your data is stored?

Remember -- "one drive is not enough", IF the data on it is valuable to you.

You might consider getting a 2nd drive to serve as a backup to the one you have now. To make one an exact copy of the other, use either CarbonCopyCloner or SuperDuper (both are free to download and use for 30 days).
