so i was wondering whats a good external drive for a mac, i am about to swap drives in my mpb to a 320 gig hd and wanted to know what everyones thoughts on a good external back up drive would be so i can set up time machine.

What's your budget? Size (2.5" vs 3.5")? Capacity? Interface? Not enough info to recommend any specific drive

price doesnt really matter long as it isnt crazy expensive, looking for 500 gig plus, 3.5 inch. usb or firewire is fine

i don't have one, but I like the look of the G-Drive by Hitachi. Closely follows Apple's design features. They use heat sink's instead of fans, so there is no noise. Offers multiple connection methods. I've been wanting to get one, but haven't yet.

Why swap a 250 gb HD with a 320? A 500 gb HD is only $50 or a 1TB for 130. I'd bump your internal space and then just use your original 250 gb hard drive and stick it in an enclosure.
