I actually have a Iomega Minimax, to be used with my Powerbook G4. I haven't used it that much in the past, but now that I'm doing it the noise of the unit is driving me nuts. It's really a shame! Furthermore I have experienced a few times the computer getting stuck while using the drive. Can I do/try something about this? I have checked the filesystem with disk utility and it was fine.

However, even if i can fix the actual problem, I want to get rid of the unit as soon as possible because I can't stand the noise. The only good thing about is that it also acts as a FW/USB hub. Are there similar (silent) products you are aware of? Or should I try some fanless mobile drive (if yes, which one is good)?

Thanks for suggestions.
