does anyone know where i can get a psd of the external drive icon i have checked in a bunch of different places but couldn't find anything

There is no .psd only an .ico/.ics.

_When you selected the external HDD (different icons for USB and Firewire and eSATA), press CMD+I,

_select the icon in the upper left of the GET INFO window, thus it has a blue border and then press CMD+C.

__Open Preview and press CMD+N

___and then you can select the size you want

____and press CMD+A

_____and press CMD+C

______and press CMD+N

_______and then save it as .png.

While this is nice, the option I described, while a bit cumbersome for the uninitiated, provides 512x512 sized icons, the site you linked to only offers up to 128x128, though that might be more than enough for the OP.

True. However, I provided that link because I think the reason the OP asked for a PSD file is that he/she was looking for a graphic to use in a PhotoShop project, not icon changing instructions.

Though some steps I provided can be used for changing icons, if one would follow the steps I provided, one would get a 512x512 sized icon and not have changed it. If the target is PS, then the bigger the icon is the better.

PS: That page you linked to is very, very slow and often fails to even load.

@simsaladimbamba: somehow, I missed the second half of your instructions where you generate the 512x512 version suitable for any graphics editing program... My bad.

But the site I linked to always works great, for me anyway, I use it all the time.

i like the site you gave me but i fail to find any psd on there

Because they don't offer PSD files.
Why the need for PSDs?
The way I showed you gives you a workable PNG file, complete with transparency.
Or does your version of PS only work with PSD files?

Maybe if you can provide more information, why it should be a PSD file, we can help you better.

Or is the 512 x 512 PNG method not suitable for your needs?

Sorry for the many questions, but I am baffled why the PNG method would not suit your needs, but a 128 x 128 PSD would.

now that i think about it a 512X512 png will work for me
the one provided above would work but it has the 512x512 on top of it

As I didn't know, what kind of icon you wanted, I just used the USB icon.
But with the procedure I explained to you in simple steps, you should be able to do it yourself in less than a minute per icon.

thank you very much i didn't even know that procedure existed until now thank you very much problem solved
