I purchased a 4TB external SSD so I could take all my required folders etc off of my old Mac Pro running El Capitan.
Not sure what file format to use so the drive is recognized by both machines OK.
It has a GUID partion map at the moment and works on both machines but.........
When I plug the drive into the old Mac Pro it is recognized straight away and the drive enclosures blue light
comes on, behind the blue power light is a red light that shows when the drive is reading and writing but at no
other time as when idle.
If I then plug the drive into the Mac Mini M2 the blue power light comes on and the red operation light
flashes as the mac mini reads the drive, this goes on for an age before the Mini actually shows the drve
on the minis desktop and it then it all works OK, but the red operation light IE:- Read/Write red light just keeps
flashing the whole time when idle.
If I then eject the external drive the red read/write light stops flashing and just the blue power light remains on.

it still takes a while to be recognized but once recognized it stops
all the flashing.
