Is there any software out there that can lock down an external hard drive? Let’s say I have an external usb/firewire drive and to keep someone from seeing my info it comes up to ask for a password or something like that. I really don’t want to lock down my folders just the drive itself. So if my friend stole my drive and he plugged it in it stops him from seeing anything on it

Locked drives are ridiculously easy to crack open so your best bet is to probably create a disk image in Disk Utility with encryption on it, and keep your files in that image. Make it a sparse disk image so it'll only use as much space as is required. :)
