Hi all. Sorry if the title of my thread is too mysterious

I've got a weird problem.

I have a Glyph StudioRaid that supports firewire800 and usb 3.0. After the fw800 cable was damaged, I decided to get an usb 3.0 repeater cable because the speeds are faster. This 2012 27" iMac also had its thunderbolt port fry out of the blue one day. I need them and so I bought a used 2013 27" iMac.

When it got here I tested the Glyph raid on the usb 3 cable and it syncs right up in 3.0. So I did the surgery to swap my 2012's SSD drive and once again it has problems showing up. Sometimes is shows not at all, sometimes in the system profilers usb device tree, then sometimes in disk utility but doesn't mount, sometimes it DOES mount but when it does it is in usb 2.0 mode. I booted up the old machine and it mounts right up every time in usb 3.0.

I've also plugged in a different usb 3.0 drive and it mounts right up and shows as a 3.0 device in the device tree. Idk if Mac "remembers" previous devices or whatever but I feel like it might be some sort of conflict due to it being on the machine before as firewire? I'm hoping there's some plist or pref file or SOMETHING like that, that could be deleted. This drive houses my media server, FCPX projects, and photoshop as well as having had a symlink for iTunes (now Apple Music) idevice backups as well as my music library. 8tb's. So you can see why I really need to sort this out.

To ME this says its a software issue

Any idea what I can try to do to fix this? Thanks in advance for any insight!
