Hi,
I am using NewerTech eSATA Extender Cable (https://eshop.macsales.com/item/NewerTech/MPQXES2/) in my cMP from internal SATA port to get an external eSATA port. I connected my Samsung evo ssd inside Rosewill External Enclosure (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005KGNXTE/ref=sspa_dk_detail_1?psc=1&pd_rd_i=B005KGNXTE) using eSATA cable and upon booting I can access the drive (CCC backup clone). After powering off (as the SATA port is not hot swappable) I connected it using USB 3 cable and booted back again but the drive didn't show up. The backup drive was created in past using USB 3 connection in the same enclosure. The drive mounts fine in a different enclosure with usb 3 connection. I checked the usb connection in Rosewill enclosure using different drive and that shows up fine.
Has anybody else experienced similar situation? Why didn't the ssd drive mount upon switching cable when the enclosure and cables are working fine? My plan is to connect the ssd using usb 3 connection for regular backups (as it is a hot swappable connection) and connect it using eSATA port if I need to boot from external drive (as the usb 3 is not yet bootable).
