I currently have an iMac with a 1TB internal holding my iTunes library and (3) 2TB MyBooks on FireWire. One of these has my iTunes movies, one has MKVs (which I'm converting to ATV3 files and deleting) and one is a Time Machine drive only backing up the iMac and my laptop (which has my photo library on it.) I just ordered a new iMac with a 3TB Fusion drive. I will be loading it up with all the iTunes library, as well as the movies from the 2TB MyBook. I think this will put me with 2-2.5TB used on the 3TB Fusion. My problem is 2 fold. What do I use for my new Time Machine and what do I do with these (3) 2TB Green drives?

I know I could put my movies in a "no backup" folder and keep running as I have been. I wouldn't mind getting them on a backup though. I am trying to keep this under $300. I am considering different external enclosures; NAS, USB3, Thunderbolt, with or without RAID (I was thinking I would use RAID 5 maybe?) Or I could just get a WD or Seagate 3TB or 4TB USB3.0 drive and use the 2TB MyBooks for off-site backup or something.

I have looked at Synology NAS, MediaSonic 4 bay (shaky USB3 reviews with OSX), OWC Mercury Elite Pro (though it's not USB3). Looking for some feedback/experience from folks here.
