I am trying to verify and repair and external lacie hard drive. And when I do it suddenly unmounts. Then I have to disconnect & re-connect the usb cable for it to mount again.

The files are on the external and still accessible.

I think it's normal for Disk Utility to unmount the drive before repairing it. Does the repairing finish with success or do you get an error?

There was an error before the repair (don't remember the specifics.. I'm away from the machine)
