I am looking for an external HD mainly so i can use time machine among other things. i have found 2 that are at very reasonable prices i just don't know which one is better, or for that matter if either of them are any good at all

the iomega HD is here

and the LaCie

so if you could give me your opinions on the 2 drives or any other drives in a similar price range that would be great

thanks

The only thing I am looking for in a external HD is a firewire connection. Simply because it is not being used on my computer and many things use the USB ports so they get filled up fast. JMO

I just got this one from OWC (enclosure actually arrived this morning and hard drives should be here tomorrow).

I liked that it was RAID-1 and firewire. I'm going to use it for Time Machine and to store my videos from my camcorders so I wanted the redundancy and speed.

If I was just getting an EHD, I still think I would look for firewire. You could always get an enclosure and hard drive separate. Then when the hard drive dies, you still have a working enclosure. Or, if the enclosure dies, you can take the hard drive and put it in another enclosure and still have your data.

Just my .02.
