Hi all,

I've got a little problem with my external (USB 2.0) DVD player/burner. I don't seem to be able to get any video DVD's to play with it. Data dvd's work just fine. When I put in a video DVD of a movie the DVD shows as mounted on the desktop and I can access the video and audio folders on the disk but it won't play the movie. When I use the mac DVD player I get the following error message:

There was an initialization error. A valid DVD drive could not be found.
[-70012]

In researching this problem I found that some recommended using the VLC player instead but it's not able to play the disk either.

Any ideas what I can do to fix this?

System info:
supermulti DVD burner, usb 2.0 connection
eMac running OS X 10.4.11
powerPC G4 1.25 ghz
