external DVD burner question

I need an external DVD burner, and I want one that is pretty cheap, but works well. i have seen some, but I dont know if they will work on my mac mini. I know some things labeled only for PC will work, but some dont. Do you know if any of them will work? or which ones?

I plugged an old DVD reader from my dead PC into an el-cheapo IDE-USB adaptor cable, and plugged that into my MB Pro, and once I set the drive to be 'master', I could read CDs and DVD without problem. Whether this works for writing, I don't know.
