I occasionally use an external Samsung external USB DVD burner/drive with my MBP.

Sometimes when I drag the disk icon to the trash the disk looks like it's unmounted, but the actual drive doesn't eject the disk. And the manual eject button won't work either, like it's waiting for the computer to tell it to do something.

Is this a compatibility problem, or an indication of something wrong hardware-wise?

I'm no techie- but uses to have this prob
with my SuperDrive as extn enclosure-
I found if you re-boot then try to use eject with iTunes

Might be worth a shot before reaching for the Phillips screwdriver
