I would like to purchase an external DVD drive for my early 2009 MBP and that also will work on my 2009 Air. The external that apple sells will only work on the Air so that won't work. What are my choices. It doesn't have to be particularly small or anything I just want it to upload the occasional CD of pictures and all. The internal in my MBP has broke and I just don't feel like replacing it.

Any external optical disk drive (ODD) with a USB interface will work, thus you may only need to spend 30 € for a Samsung or similar model.

If you don't need to carry it around, I suggest you get one with an external power supply so you don't have to try and plug 2 usb cables into your Mac to get the drive to work. The Apricorn Aegis NetDock is one you might look at as it has a USB hub in it as well.
