External dvd drive

Hey guys,
I just have a really quick question. I ordered the maxupgrades optibay solution which comes in today. I need that extra HDD for bootcamp. Here's my question, can I just run by best buy and pick up any external dvd drive that is USB and use it?

Of course you can. It may be slower than internal but does its job

Thanks for the quick reply. I was just going to use to install Windows 7 and have for a backup just in case I have to re-install any software or Snow Leopard.

Yea, it's always good to have optical drive because it's the easiest way to reinstall OS X, plus they are only ~10-20$
