I need an external DVD writer (SuperDrive). What's currently the best/cheapest one for Mac?

DVD burners are commodity items. The USB ones all "just work" with Macs. Buy the cheapest one you can find (you might consider "a brand name you have heard of" if you are skittish):

PS- one thing to add. I'd get an external burner with its own power supply. The ones that use USB power are hit or miss on some Macs - not enough power available on the USB bus.
And - for some future compatibility, I'd consider a dual-layer burner - you get 8.x GB on it instead of 4.7.
