External Express/34 Slot...

Ok, so we all know that SD slots replaced the Express slots in all MBP's except the 17''. For my purposes, that's simply too big, and soon I'll have my hands on a new 15". In the future I will require the use of Express/34 cards. Do you see the pickle now? So here is my inquiry to this community. Is there such thing as an external Express/34 card slot that attaches to the computer via USB or (preferably) Firewire? If so, please guide the way.

P.S. Would the speed of an internal Express/34 slot be lost under such circumstances?

Your best bet is to purchase a refurbished 15" with the 34 slot, or find left over stock at an Apple store or Best Buy...they tend to heavily discount the previous generation left overs.

And yes, most anything over USB that would benefit from the ExpressCard slot will be slower. If the device is limited by it's own circuitry, then no.
