External GPU under Win for gaming?

Im considering getting either a Razer Blade or a MacBook Pro to use while travelling. I would be doing some light work on it and gaming.

I've always been a Mac guy and would love to stay that way but I really want this machine to be good for gaming while I travel.

How feasible is using an external GPU with the new MacBook Pro under windows for gaming?

Would it be possible to run games at 60fps or higher when attached to an ultrawide display using an external GPU?

Anyone have any experience with this sort of set up?
