Help needed please!

I am currently in the processing of shopping for a new external hard drive, preferably a thunderbolt external ranging from 1tb to 3tb. Right now I am using a firewire 800 Lacie hard drive but I will be upgrading to a new imac soon

What is the best or most bought hard drive out there? I was looking into the G-Technology 3TB G-Drive but I read that people are complaining about it producing to much noise. If anyone owns one could you give me some feedback on it.

Any suggestions or advice would be helpful.

Thank you!

Unless you have some compelling reason that requires thunderbolt, I think you'd do just as well with a USB3 drive, provided the enclosure is specifically stated to support UASP (USB attached SCSI protocol). Not all of them are.

Best course of action is to buy the enclosure and drive separately, them assemble them yourself.

I'd suggest a 2.5" drive of your choice, placed into an enclosure such as this one:
