I'm currently on the market for a 1TB external drive. I already have 3 x LaCie externals (2 x 250g and 1 x Tb). These have performed well but I have had to replace the power supplies on 2 of them (common issue). No drive failures or data loss to date.
My existing 1 TB holds all my music files (400Gigs) and my Time Machine bacup of my MacBook Pro.
My new external will be to mirror the existing 1 TB for the time when it fails.
Like to understand if I could be doing things smarter?
So far I've looked at:
Western Digital (with firewire to daisychain)
LaCie
G-Tech...(more expensive but looks good).
If I buy the G Tech it there a way I can future=proof my storage set-up? I don't understand RAID at all...
