Hello brilliant people! I need a little help.
I bought a Maxtor 120G OneTouch 4 Mini yesterday and when I came home and plugged it into my MacBook, it worked great. I put a few files on it and left for the evening. When I returned, the drive was not on my desktop and the light was off. I then tried unplugging it and re-starting it to no avail as well as restarting my own computer and then also finally trying it in my roommate's MacBook Pro where it did the same thing. Poking the button does nothing. Annoyingly, it's the only button ON the machine.
Now when I plug it into my laptop, the disc begins spinning, but the light does not come on and nothing shows up on my desktop. I've been through disk utilities, the drive did not show up, and the Seagate website, which didn't help at all. I'm going to try plugging it in today into a computer with a tower, but I want to know why it worked for 20 minutes then stopped.
Also, it's not my USB drives because my flash drive still works. And I never ran only on battery power to try to use it.
If it helps, the drive came with a cable with three outputs. One for power, one for power and data, and one for the drive itself.
Does my laptop simply not have enough power? Why did it work before? How do I remedy this?
Thanks.
