Ok, so I clean installed Mountain Lion without realising my Time Machine was FileVault 2 encrypted (i did it a year ago and never needed to bother with it since), the recovery key is saved in the documents sections of the drive (obviously an idiot, i should have known that was part of the encrypted drive...)

So now that im trying to get at my music and such, Im just presented with a window asking for the password. Is this a password that i might have created myself, or is it referring to the recovery key?

Also apples website mentions recovering the key from apple if i elected to store it with them, but im not presented with the screen they claim i should be.

If anyone could help i will owe you for life!
