External Hard Drive Formatting Issue

I have a macbook pro that I use in mac OSX Leopard and Windows XP.

I just bought a Maxtor 500gb external hard drive so I could backup my files and store my home video editing work.

I was wondering on how I should structure this drive:

Can Time Machine backup everything-Windows Included? What About additional external harddrives that are fat32?

Should I have separate partitions for Time Machine, Windows backup, and video editing?

Any pointers would be a big help!
