i have a 100gb maxtor hard drive and it is formatted as Mac os x extended journaled. I have used disk warrior 4 and data rescue II and neither work. I have 50gb of music on here and tons of other important stuff. In Disk utility it shows the disk but no volumes and when the external hard drive is plugged in to my macbook pro(leopard) and my girlfriends macbook(tiger), it says the current disk cannot be read. Also in disk utility the disk shows up, but without a volume, and in terminal i checked the volumes directory and it just has the internal hd volumes. also in disk utility, get info it says that the drive is unformatted. This whole problem happened when i was using my macbook pro which has leopard. This happened abruptly after i had installed an update and was playing music at the same time.
can anyone shed a little light on this?
EDIT:
my friend has an ipod with all of my songs on it, and i will probably download an ipod copy tool if there is no way to fix this problem. But if anyone has any ideas let me know. Also what is the best ipod copy tool? thanks.
EDIT AGAIN:
also when connecting the drive the original name of the volume shows up and i can start to repair the volume and it says invalid record count found and another time it said invalid b-tree node found, this is in diskutility.
