I just bought a Western Digital My book Essential 320 GB external drive for my MacBook; using a 2.0 USB. When I plugged it in, my comp recognized it right away like it should. But when I went to create new folders in it, thats when the problems start. Ok, when I make a folder & then I make a new one, that folder will change to the one I had just made. It's kind of hard to explain. Ok so I make a folder called say movies, then I make one called books. When I go to click on the books folder it will change to movies & all of the files in the movies folder will be in it & the ones I placed in books wont be. It will do this w/ all the other folders i created, so every folder I click on will change to movies. When I unplug it & plug it back it everything works fine, but it gets really tiring. It also happens everytime I copy a new file into my HD. Basically everytime I transfer a file I have to unplug it then plug it in again to see it properly.
Also, I notice everytime I click on a folder, a whole bunch of duplicates of it will automatically go to my trash bin.
I don't know whether I should take it back or what. I'm not looking to use it as a backup of everything, I just wanted some extra storage really. After buying it I've read alot of bad reviews, so then I went looking for some good hard drives, but they all get bad reviews! Are there even any really good ones out there?
I also dont want it frying my computer or anything like that!
Sorry for the long post!

Edit: just noticed something else
Even when its not plugged in duplicate folders will keep popping up in my trash bin! WTH!?
