One of my external hard drives decided to do its tricks on me, and just could not be read anymore. When I go to disk utility and verify/repair this is exactly what i get:

Verify and repair volume " "
Checking non-journaled HFS plus volume
checking extents overflow file
checking catalog file
invalid node structure (red)
volume check failed (red)
Error: filesystem verify or repair failed.

I have about 300GB worth of files in there, I would love to be able to retrieve them. Any suggestions? thanks

Do you have any backups? If so try reformatting. If you dont' have backups, start backing up stuff so you don't run into this problem into the future.

Was it hot? Clicking? Not used for a while?
Presume it is Mac formatted so you can't try reading it on a PC (not sure why that would work anyway...)
