Hi, I have just bought a Western Digital My Book Studio Edition 2 and it doesn't seem to work with Leopard. To put files on the drive, it asks for my password and to delete them off the drive it also asks for my password but then tells me I don't have authorisation. How can I disable this feature or is there at least a workaround?

Cheers

Can you check Applications / Utilities / Disk utility and see what format the external HDD was formatted in?

Can you check the Sharing & Permissions tab inside the Get Info window while you CMD+I your HDD?
Do you have the sufficient privileges to access the drive?

I have a couple of the same drives and some time ago I also had similar type of an issue with one of them. Do exactly as spinnerlys recommends. Your drive is already formatted in HFS+. You just need to change the drive's Sharing & Permissions info.
