external hard drive question

Might have posted this in the wrong place but:

I have a mac book pro and and pc laptop, I was wondering if there is any ways I can have an external harddrive work for both.

I have over 80gigs of music that I dont want taking up space on either of my computers hardrives. Is there anyways I can have Itunes and my library stored on the external drive and have it work when connected to either computer? Anyone done anything like this?
