So I have some choices here.

Seagate 1.5TB external hard drive - $139 - usb only connection

WD Home Edition - 1TB external hard drive - $134 - has USB, esata and FW400

Any comments or recomendations here?

It really depends on what you plan to do with it.

If you're using it as a backup device, the USB connection is fine.

If you plan to work on large files directly on it, you'll likely be happier with the FW interface.

Back up only - perhaps pulling some data back and fourth - but mainly time machine - FYI WD - 3 year warranty, Seagate 5 year warranty

Either will work, I've had problems with every external except Lacie and Seagate. The only advice I would say is maintain the thing. If an external is left on for extended periods of time it has a high chance of overheating. Also be sure to clean out any gathering dust. I have gone through countless externals with only two survivors...(dang family). I would say the Seagate hands down.

PS: Keep out of reach of children!
