Im going to need an external hard drive for my powerbook that I just ordered to hold all my music and video files. I would like it to have FW800, FW400, and USB2 (just in case).

So...would it be better to just get a LaCie d2 Triple Interface 200GB for $219 or buy a OWC Mercury Elite Pro Combo Case kit for $120 and a nice 200GB Maxtor DiamondMax 10 with a 16MB cache for $107 for a total of $227. The price difference is negligible, so which would be the better external drive?

Thanks.

There are a lot of threads on this topic. The search button is very powerful. Back to your question, I would get the LaCie due to a good reputation and that way the whole thing has a warrantee. That way if something went wrong it would be a lot easier to return. That's not a huge concern, bu it's a bonus.
