Hi,

I have a Seagate FreeAgent Go 500 GB external hard drive. Recently, my MacBook (Intel Dual Core 2Ghz) stopped recognizing the hard drive. When I use disk utility, the hard drive and the partitions show up correctly. When I try to mount the drive, it says that I should run first aid. Repair Drive in Disk Utility tells me that each partition is Ok.

I've installed demos for two different disk repair utilities. Both can see each partition and every folder and file on the drive. It can even open the files, but I would like to avoid paying 145$ for software that may fix the drive (that is more than the drive cost).

Does anyone have any ideas? I've tried hooking it up to other laptops and a Windows machine, and while you can see the drive in System Profile or the like, they cannot mount the drive.

Thanks.
