Hello.
I have a question concerning the use of time machine.
I would like to use an external hard drive to backup my entire Mac. That being said, I do not have enough space to store movies I edit on iMovie on my mac and thus I would like to store them ONLY on my external hard drive.
Is it then possible to tell time machine to backup my entire mac, and also have a folder on my external hard drive that contains the movie files (which are not on the mac)?
Thank you for reading!

I'd partition it. Time Machine to one partition; movie files to the other. Should work fine. Just be careful; you didn't mention drive size. The smaller the drive or partition, the faster TM will cannibalize your backups- after it fills up it deletes oldest and begins again from there.
