external hard drive wont show up at all..

well i have a western digital passport external h.d and it just wont show up at all.. it was used on a windows comp first.. did work with my ibook, but now it wont.. i tried going to utilities then disk drive and its not in there either.. any idea's? im going to try to format it on windows and then see if it will show up and i can format it for mac..

try resetting all that can be reseted...like..
- unplug all usb's and any other peripheral device, take out battery and wait 10-15 mins
- while mac is off, press simultaneously ctrl+alt+AppleKey+PowerButton 3-4 times
turn the mac on
- after boot sound hold AppleKey+Alt+P+R
- after boot sound hold AppleKey+Alt+O+F and when you go to OpenFirmware type:
1)reset-nvram (hit enter key)
2)set-defaults (hit enter key)
3)reset-all (hit enter key) (mac will restart)

- try connecting the harddrive now...

i ended up figuring out that the usb cable i was using was the problem.. the head that plugs into the drive was bent and must have not been a good connection..
