So I have three external hard drives hooked up to my MacBook via a USB hub.
My problem is that for the last few months, every 3-5 seconds they are spinning up and down, parking and unparking, and causing beachballs. With one drive mounted directly or via the hub, it's annoying. With 3, it's unusable.
I have unchecked the "Put the hard disk(s) to sleep when possible" under Energy Saver, but it hasn't helped at all with the constant parking and unparking, and they STILL spin up and down several times per minute.
My internal drive also makes the parking click every 3-5 seconds.
My worry is that whatever is making the park and unpark is wearing them out far faster than I will be able to afford to replace them. What can I do?
