Hello forum. I have an early 2012 iMac i5. I've been uploading my DVD library with handbrake at least 1,000 dvd's. I also purchase hd movies frequently from iTunes. My question is I obviously need an external hd to handle that much data. My Mac has either FireWire 800 or USB 2.0. I know FireWire is faster but, do I need it for what I'm doing? I stream to Apple TV and iPads. Do you think USB 2.0 is sufficient? How much of difference might I notice if I were to use FireWire. Thanks all

USB 2 coupled with a decent 7200 RPM drive should be fine. I've even streamed movies using a green USB HDD without any stuttering at all.
