So, for some odd reason my external harddrive isn't appearing as an icon on my desktop or anywhere else.
The only way to get to the files is to search a folder inside the harddrive and navigate from there, when you do that and go all the way back to the root it shows me this:

Is there any way i can get the icon back? Thanks!

and yes, i have checked finder->preferences->show etc

I've had all my disk icons vanish for no apparent reason 2 or 3 times.
What has fixed has been a combination of, restarting finder, switching off (yes they were set to on) then back on 'show disk icons' wherever that lives (I forget, is it finder preferences?),logging off and back on, and once, when none of that worked, rebooting.
