Hello everyone!

I've got an iMac with two accounts, an Admin account and a Standard account.

When in the Standard account, if I connect an external hard drive, formatted for Mac obviously, to copy anything to that drive, I have to authenticate with the Admin credentials, even if I format the drive in the Standard account.

I don't want to have to authenticate every time I plug a new hard drive in.

I know the workaround is to get info on that drive and check the box "Ignore Permissions.." but you still need to have the admin password.

I know what the admin password is but the various people that utilize this workstation do not need to know what the admin password is.

So my question being, is there a global permission that will let a Standard User be able to mount/format/copy to an external drive without needing to utilize the admin authentication?

I have chatted with Apple about this and their answer is "no".

Thoughts?

Thanks so much!
[doublepost=1516296302][/doublepost]Just solved my own problem, figured I'd reply in case someone else ever has this issue.

The Standard account that is having the issue used to be an Admin account, that is causing the problem, created a brand new Standard account and copying files was no problem.

Hope this helps someone!
