I have an Aluminum Macbook and a Western Digital External Harddrive. Does anyone know how to set up the harddrive so that all of my media (music, photos, movies, etc.) will save directly to the external harddrive?

I am not sure I understand the question... sorry

Im asking how i can designate my external harddrive to save all of the music, photos, movies, etc. that i download or import automatically rather than these files saving to my laptop's internal harddrive.

Where you save these things is a function of the application you use to download them. There isn't a global setting for this.

You can set up iTunes to have its library on the external drive, Firefox/Safari to automatically save downloads to that drive, etc. Each application will have a different setting you'll need to change.
