Back in Europe, I was using a PC to digitalize my whole CD library and saved everything on my external harddisk drive. When I came to the US, I bought myself a Macbook. The problem is that using iTunes, I can read and play all mp3s really good, but when I change f.e. the name of one of the files, it is much slower than it was comparing my crappy PC.
I was wondering if there might be something special with these files since I was switching from PC to Mac, and I would be able to do something against this, f.e. defragmentation?
The harddrive is connected via USB to my SR Macbook, and it is formatted with FAT.
I would be really glad about some help!

FAT is your problem mate, use HFS (unjournaled)
unless you're using it between Mac and Pc... thats not pretty. Sorry:D
