External HD error -50

Hi I've upgraded to Snow leopard and now cant copy to my back up external drive anymore. I get the error -50. Anyone know what this means and what I have to do to get over this? I see people are having similar problems with their externals after upgrading to SL or Lion. What is going on?!

Have you checked Finder > select external HDD >> GET INFO >>> Format and Sharing & Permissions yet?

I have the exact same issue.

Is the external an SSD? Is your internal also and SSD?

On the finder I have it exactly as your screen shot formatted as Mac OS Extended (Journaled) and read and write and its a lacie hard disk.

I have not been able to solve mine and I have found a few other people having similar issues - with no solutions.
