I have been using my Maxtor One Touch 160GB external drive for several months on a Macbook Pro running OS 10.6 and Windows XP through Parallels. I also have Paragon NTFS. I have been using the drive in both operating systems and haven't had an issue unitl yesterday when I powered it up and receieved this message:
"The drive you inserted was not readable by this computer." The drive is not visible in the windows system either.
I ran disk utility and it was not able to verify or repair the drive.
Is the data lost? Is the drive toast?
Thanks for the help!
Bree

Never a fun thing to see from a hard drive. First I'd try it on someone else's computer. Disk utilities like recommended above have rarely worked for me, but they could be worth a shot.

I tried to run it both from another mac and a windows machine with no luck. I also ran disk warrior but it said it could not repair because it's not a mac drive.

How was the drive formatted originally?

Did you make it into an NTFS volume or did you partition it for Mac and PC?

Cheers
