My ibook G3 is very slow when Im booted to the internal drive. Boot times are about the same but browsing is slower. My external drive is a sata conected to the firewire port. I tried both tiger with 10 4 fox and panther with comino. Is my internal drive going bad?

The internal drive in an iBook is painfully slow. Any modern hard drive, running on a firewire connection will be much faster. It's always possible your internal is dying, but my G4 mini was way faster at most everything when booting off the FW400 external in the Ministack.
