I have no experience with an external hard drive. I would like to purchase one to use with light video editing(Final Cut Express), music creation(GarageBand), and picture and music storage. I currently have a 1.2GHz iBook w/ 768 RAM. What are the minimum specs (rpm, cache, capacity) I would need for the video and music editing? Also, I'm extremely unfamiliar with the setup of external drives. Can the native files sit on the external drive while editing? Does anyone have any examples of optimal setups? Thanks for your help.
