Hi,
Using OSX 10.6.5.
I have an external WD 500 GB hard drive that I've had attached via firewire for years... literally.
For some unknown reason, I can only read and can't write to it.
I checked the "get Info" tab and under Sharing & Permissions (S&P), I can only Read.
I checked my other WD Hd and the S&P state I can read and write.

How do I go about switching back so I can read AND write to my other HD??
Thanks.
Frank

Just went to Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility/Verify Disk.
I was "told" that there are errors and that the disk needs repaired.

Clicked Repair Disk and was immediately told
"could not unmount disk" and the repair process ceased.

Hummm. where to go from here??
Thanks.

Frank

What about the part where you popped up that menu and changed the 'Read only' to be 'Read & Write'?

What happened when you did that?
