Here is my situation... I recently purchased a MacBook Pro. Due to money issues, I wasn't able to get as much hard drive space as I wanted. I have about 30GB of music, as well as 15GB of video. I am planning on adding more to this collection. I have an external Maxtor hard drive that I use to backup everything weekly (I'm a student... just backing up papers, music, movies, etc. - so I don't need a daily back up or anything).

I'd really like to move all of my music and videos on to a portable hard drive (I'm looking into a 250GB Seagate Portable GO Drive) so they're not cluttering up my MBP's HD. Although, incase the Seagate drive breaks or I lose it, I'd still like to have a backup of it.

The Maxtor drive would be used to backup both my computer and my Seagate portable hard drive. Is there a way to do this? Also, how would I go about moving all of my music and movies to the portable hard drive and then backing it up with my external hard drive? I'd still like to be able to play my music in iTunes and sync my iPod/iPhone. I am fairly technologically savvy, but I'm nervous about losing all of my data.

Ideally, I'd like to have the Seagate drive constantly plugged in for quick access to iTunes and such. And then weekly, I'd plug in the Maxtor and back everything up with Time Machine. Is this possible?

I have done the research on moving an iTunes library to an external/portable HD, but just to reassure myself, I can sync my iPhone/iPod to iTunes still, as long as my portable HD is plugged in, correct? Nothing has to change, in that department, right?...

I literally just got my Mac a week ago and am already freaking out about filling it up too fast! :)

Thanks, in advance, for the help! :)
