So I hear everyone should back up their HD.

I have a 2011 13 mbp 320hd. I'm looking for a external hd so I can back this hd up just incase... I'm in Canada, looking to spend around 50-100$.

What about this?

If you're going to be using the drive strictly for backups, USB will do, but if you plan to use as storage for large files, go for a FireWire enclosure, it'll much much faster.

With that said, that enclosure and drive looks just fine.

No platter-based hard drive is better than any other.

Absolutely false. There are many brands that get better reviews and ratings than others. Some HDD's are known to be noisy and unreliable. To say that all hard drives are equal is silly.
